Hi guys!
My name's Kristina, but I go by Kristi. I'm from Waco, Texas but I'm currently living in Austin for school.
I go to the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em!) and I'm studying Special Education. I just recently started the part of my schooling where I get to focus solely on special ed and I'm ridiculously excited. When I grow up, I hope to teach kids with disabilities in foreign countries.
This semester has been super busy so I don't have a job currently, but last semester I taught science to a bunch of cute 2nd and 3rd graders at a really poor elementary school in Austin. I absolutely loved it and was really sad that my schedule didn't let me continue to work there...
For the fun stuff... I love to read. Books make me really happy. I love to learn new things and to hang out with my friends (correlation: some of my friends just taught me how to make sushi!). When we hang out, we usually just watch movies or talk about random things. Whenever I go home to Waco, my friends and I usually just kinda drive around aimlessly since there's nothing else to do there...
As for my likes and dislikes... I love tea. I hate coffee (I have no idea how I've survived so far in my collegiate education:) ). I love to try new things and then become obsessed with them. This happens quite frequently. I absolutely hate rush hour but I love that I get to sit in my car with my music blasting and praise God for letting me have that time with Him. And I love to talk about how awesome God is.
I've been on four mission trips, all to Mexico. Three have been to this small town called Galeana and other really small communities around there. I went with a church in Waco. My last time to go on a mission trip was to Mexico City with Mission Waco. I absolutely loved it- this trip changed my life forever. Without knowing it at the time, my interest in special ed started here along with my never-ending quest to get to know my God better. Mission Waco, as a side note, is this really awesome organization that helps the homeless and poor there. Just to let you know:)
I'm, of course, ridiculously excited about Haiti. I can't wait to get there and to start extending God's glory there. I think that God really wants me to understand that so many people aren't being reached and that it's up to us to do it. This trip is just the beginning of that journey for me.
I can't wait to meet all of y'all and to get to know you better!
