You guys are witnessing history...my very first blog ever! You don't know this yet but this is a big deal for me.
First thing you should know about me- I'm terrible with computers and such and way behind the times but kind of love it that way.
Guess I skipped a little before I jumped into useless information. My name is Jenna. Jennifer, really, but only when I'm in big trouble. I grew up in Powell, OH but moved to Knoxville, TN to go to school. I love the University of Tennessee and love living in the south.
As I said, I am at UT right now and am a junior. I'm a child and family studies major with a concentration in families at risk. Also, who knew I was about three classes away from a psychology minor? So that's also in the works.
I am, in fact, a working woman. I work at a daycare in Knoxville. I'm with the first graders and try to act like the real deal. They call me Ms. Jenna and everything. My parents are awesome and pay for my school but other than that, I'm independent. I pay for books and gas and spending money and such. Sometimes it's tough making minimum wage but for now it's where I'm at. And as a plus, I'm getting REALLY good at heads up 7 up.
I love to do pretty much anything active and am always game for adventure. Being outside is my favorite. I'm a closet nerd and love to read but don't talk about it much :-)
This whole bio thing is harder than I expected. I'm sure you all will get to know most of the important stuff while we're together so I'm not sure what to say. I'm a Young Life leader and really do love it. My ministry with high school girls is really important to me. Speaking of which, just survived a sleepover with ten of them and successfully broke into an abandoned insane asylum...trust me, it's impressive with these nuts.
I have not been on a mission trip before. I have always had a heart for missions but there has always been somewhere the Lord needed me instead and finally I feel like God has given the okay! Haiti here we come.
To be honest, I'm most excited to see God in a very real way. I want a chance to serve our Creator and to love the people that He loves. It's a beautiful thing to get to be His hands for a while to people that have seen so much struggle. Also, I can't help but wonder about all of the incredible things the people of Haiti will teach us just by being around them :-) I'm nervous about leaving my life here behind. There are a lot of people I love a lot and a ministry I am leaving behind but the Lord has called me to Haiti so I can't wait to see how He works in my absence.
The end of my first blog. Thanks for listening. I love reading about your lives, hope you enjoyed mine.
